! A Word of Caution
A Passport is issued under the Indian Passport Act,1967. It is an offence to knowingly furnish false information or suppress material information which attracts penal and other action under relevant sections of the said Act. Passports should not be sent out to any country by post or by courier.
Loss of passport should be immediately reported to the nearest Police station and to the nearest Passport Office / Indian Mission. Passport holder shall be responsible for misuse of passport, due to non-intimation of loss to the concerned Passport Office/Indian Mission. Passport is a Govt. property and should be surrendered when demanded in writing by any Passport issuing authority. |
Requirements for Fresh Passport |
| TALKAL SCHEME: The applicant's passport size photograph is also required to be affixed on the Verification Certificate and attested by the officer issuing the Verification Certificate with his/her signature and rubber stamp in a Letter head in such a way that half the signature and stamp appear on the photograph and half of the certificate. |
For proof of stay applicant should produce any ONE of the following documents
a. Ration Card (OR) b. Bank Pass Book with minimum operation of One Year (OR) c. Telephone Bill for the last two years (OR) d. Gas Connection Book with full entry for two years (OR) e. Identity card issued by the Chief Election Commissioner |
For Proof of Date of Birth applicant should produce any ONE of the following documents
a. Transfer Certificate from Educational Institution (OR) b. Birth Certificate issued by Municipality/Corporation (OR) c. Bonafide Certificate from the school (OR) d. Tenth Standard Mark Statement (OR) e. Twelfth Standard Mark Statement |

( UP TO 18 YEARS )

| When applying for a minor's passport attach the following documents |
| Birth Certificate OR Bonafide Certificate in School Letter Head |
| Parent's Original Passport |
| If either father or mother doesn't have passport then they have to execute an Affidavit for Minor on a Non-Judicial Stamp Paper |
| Affidavit by Legal Guardian (in case the parents are not legal guardians). In this case, apart from an affidavit by the legal guardian two responsible persons known to the legal guardian should also execute an affidavit. |
| In case where the parents are resident outside India, such consent from the parent( s), in the form of Sworn Affidavit, dully attested by the Indian Mission abroad, is acceptable. At least one parent of the minor child must hold a valid Indian passport, failing which passport to minor applicant shall be issued only after police clearance. |
| All Central Government Employees, State Government Employees, Employees of Statutory Bodies and Public Sector Undertakings are required to produce A NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE (on Official Stationery) |
Section 6(2) of the Passport Act, 1967
"Subject to the other provisions of this Act, the passport authority shall refuse to issue a passport or travel document for visiting any foreign country under clause C sub-section(2) of section 5 on any one or more of the following grounds, and on no other grounds, namely:

That the applicant is not a citizen of India.

That the applicant may, or is likely to engage outside India in activities prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India.

That the departure of the applicant from India, may, or is likely to be detrimental to the security of India.
-
That the presence of applicant outside India, may, or is likely to, prejudice the friendly relations of India with any foreign country.
-
That the applicant has, at any time during the period of five years immediately preceding the date of his application being convicted by a court of India or any offence involving moral turpitude and sentenced in respect thereof to imprisonment for not less than two years.
-
That the criminal proceedings in respect of an offence alleged to have been committed by the applicant are pending before a court in India.
-
That a warrant or summons for the appearance, or a warrant for the arrest, of the applicant has been issued by a court under any law for the time being in force or that an order prohibiting the departure from India of the applicant has been made by any such court.

That the applicant has been repatriated and has not reimbursed the expenditure incurred in connection with such repatriation.
